Every year, the organisation of ISCOMS contributes to charity. This year we support the UMCG Alzheimer foundation (UMCG Alzheimerfonds).
Over 270.000 people in the Netherlands suffer from dementia. A number that will rise to more than 500.000 in twenty years. Dementia is not just overwhelming for the people who suffer from it, but it also has an immense impact on the life of the informal caregivers, like family and friends.
Dementia related research in the UMC Groningen focuses on all aspects concerning dementia. Fundamental researchers are looking for the cause(s), prevention, risk-reduction and therapies for dementia, and focuses also on increasing the quality of life for people with dementia and their caregivers.
The UMCG Alzheimer Foundation wants to find solutions for everybody who is affected by dementia, now or in the future. In order to achieve this goal, we support dementia research within the UMCG. The UMCG Alzheimer Foundation supports research which is insufficiently or not at all supported by the regular funding channels.
