Travel Grants

Planning to attend ISCOMS 2027? We understand that travelling to Groningen can be a significant expense, especially for students. To support you, we have compiled a guide on finding travel grants to help make your journey more affordable.

To assist you in finding a funding source, there are institutions that can help you find a grant. Try this page, by Nuffic. It contains an overview of available grants that you may qualify for, and other helpful information. In addition, you can look at the grantfinder by the University of Groningen.

Many universities provide travel grants to help students attend academic events. Ask your academic advisor for recommendations on finding suitable grants. Also be sure to check with your department, student associations, or the international office, as they often oversee funds specifically for student travel.

Many countries provide government-sponsored grants to support students travelling abroad for academic purposes. Check with national education and research bodies or cultural exchange programs for opportunities.

Certain foundations exist to support students from underrepresented backgrounds or regions in attending a congress. Look into academic foundations and charities that align with your field or goals.

If none of the options above work out, we offer the ISCOMS Travel Grant. Please note that funding is very limited, so the likelihood of receiving this grant is very low. See below for more information.

ISCOMS Travel Grants

Applications for the 2026 ISCOMS Travel Grants opened around February. Each application was reviewed by our International Contacts Committee. The number of grants awarded and the amount of each grant depended on the volume of requests. Applicants were notified by email shortly after the selection process had been completed.

Application requirements:
● Submit a brief letter (up to 350 words) explaining why you believe you deserve a travel grant.
● Provide an official letter from your supervisor, confirming your need for financial support. The letter must include the university’s official stamp.

As the maximum amount that could be awarded was 700 euros, we strongly encouraged students to explore additional funding opportunities. Many universities offered grants for students attending academic conferences. Applicants were advised to enquire with their institution about these options.

Applications for the ISCOMS Travel Grants are closed.
