University Ambassadors

The ambassadors of ISCOMS are students from all over the world who have visited ISCOMS themselves. Their experience at the congress has motivated them to help the organisation of ISCOMS to reach more students by using their own network. They are dedicated to promoting ISCOMS and helping other students to visit ISCOMS as well.

The ambassador programme started in 2006 with just a few enthusiastic participants. They spread the word about ISCOMS in their home-countries. In 2020, 82 ambassadors were active in 39 countries to promote ISCOMS. Their work consists mainly of promoting ISCOMS by distributing posters and flyers, digitally as well as on paper, and answering questions of students who are interested in visiting the congress. Some ambassadors even arrange information sessions or look into the possibility of arranging financial aid.

Below is a list of the ambassadors and their contact information. Ambassadors from your own country know the answer to a lot of your questions and can provide you with useful advice. They will also be able to answer questions about visas and travelling. Please dont hesitate to contact them; they will be more than willing to help.

If you are interested in becoming an ambassador yourself, there will be an opportunity to ask questions and sign up for the selection procedure at the congress. Also you can visit our website for more information or you can contact us at iscoms@umcg.nl

India

Hey there, I am Siddharth P Agrawal. I am currently pursuing my Final year MBBS from Smt. N. H. L. Municipal Medical College, Ahmedabad, India.

I had previously attended ISCOMS 2019 and DISCOMS 2020.

ISCOMS 2019 was a story of my personal and professional growth. Personally, ISCOMS helped me boost confidence in the year 2019 by allowing me to present my research in front of an enthusiastic crowd. Professionally, the amount of exposure I received was enormous, which will help me shape my career goals in the future. About DISCOMS 2020, each and every aspect of the online interface was carved beautifully giving the best experience to the participant. Concepts like online poster presentation and speed dating were something that stood out of all. All in all, these were the most productive 8 hours I spent online.

To have the best time of your life and have something to brag about in your CV, I would definitely suggest you to attend ISCOMS 2021.

Hello there! I am Dr. Viral Dave, a practicing dentist from India. I graduated from Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore. I got the opportunity to be a presenting participant at the 25th edition of ISCOMS. It was a very enriching experience to present my research in front of the enthusiastic international crowd and UMCG experts in the field. This is my third year as an ISCOMS ambassador. Without a doubt, ISCOMS is a distinguished chance to network with people from across the globe. Expanding learning horizons through hands-on workshops, key-note sessions by Nobel laureates, patient lecture (very novel concept), and viewing 3D surgery were really worth the experience. Speeddating with the researchers was a unique way to interact and learn the possibilities of doing a Ph.D. at UMCG. Jordan Popović

Jordan Popović

Serbia

Dear future ISCOMS participant, my name is Jordan Popović and I study dental medicine in Serbia. You are probably on this page to find some answers and find out about other people’s experience with ISCOMS. Honestly, a year ago I was thinking about many things and had even more questions, maybe even concerns. After my experience with ISCOMS and UMCG, I can say confidently that there is no better place for you to present your research. Organizing committee was very focused and made a conference that fulfilled all of the highest expectations and set the bar really high when It comes to student congresses, but I really feel like this is more serious and better organized than a lot of congresses made for professionals in the field of biomedicine. Work on your abstract, read it all over again, and If you get your acceptance letter, you are sure to have one of the most amazing science experiences while a student. Walking through Groningen is by itself an experience to remember, not to mention UMCG that looks like a museum and all of the interesting and super polite locals and internationals you will have a chance to meet. Please, feel free to contact me anytime about anything that you are trying to wrap your mind around and I will be as helpful and prompt as possible. Hope to see you in Groningen next year! I have always been thinking about my future, building a career, becoming a successful person, and generally finding my path in life. I think I have a chance to meet such great keynotes and extra-ordinary young researchers from all over the world with different cultures, building new connections in ISCOMS 2021 edition. Boyan Zhang

Boyan Zhang

China

I am Boyan Zhang from China, I was a Master of medicine Student in Jilin University. Now I am a Groningen PhD student in Groningen University UMCG Department of Pediatrics. So impressive of the 2019 ISCOMS! And so lucky am I participated in the ISCOMS and IRF in June 2019. ISCOMS is dramatically amazing organized and beneficial for the International students to communicate with each other and learn the research occurred around world.
ISOCMS provides all the presenting-participants 3 kinds of wonderful stages (poster, oral, plenary presentations) to exhibit their fabulous research and fantastic ideas.
Moreover, more selective courses and activities provided by ISCOMS could bring many opportunities for us to learn about doing research in Groningen University Medical Centre. Especially ISCOMS Research Fellowship (IRF) renders a two-week project for around 30 students, which allows students join in different departments of research and make an access to supervisors.
Really miss that experience!

Mostafa Samir

Mostafa Samir

Egypt

Good evening,
My name is Mostafa Samir, Military medical officer, from Egypt .
I had the honor to participate in ISCOMS 2019 as a speaker in the oral presentations, before going there I knew that I’m going to learn new things, but to be honest it was bigger than just learning, since the moment I entered the building and from the administration desk, everyone was so friendly and helpful, I felt like I know everyone here long time ago and I’m not stranger at all ! Then the conferences and the workshops, I learned new skills that can help me in my career and my study later on, the amazing presentation skills that the lecturers had and the way how they showed us how to make an important lecture so easy to be delivered and understood.
The oral presentations for me was the best part, not just because I was participating, but because of the knowledge and the confidence I gained that day, from the other participants and from the judges.
Beside the great scientific experience that I had in ISCOMS, the social activities that I joined were unforgettable, and best part of it was making a lot of friends from different places from around the world.
ISCOMS experience for me is one of the best things that ever happened to me and I’m considering myself so lucky to live it and I’m looking forward to live that experience again.
Best Regards.

Participated in ISCOMS 2019 and DISCOMS 2021
DISCOMs was new and exciting
To think it was possible for it to be done virtually, was a short adventure and fun.
There was so much to learn particularly about the new times and how students were fully involved in the fight through their research. It is the evidence of the future of health care! Interacting with others from several parts and cultures is the icing on the cake.
I am always glad to be an ambassador of ISCOMS

Two years ago I got the lovely opportunity to attend the 26th edition of ISCOMS.
It was so exciting and adventurous to visit a new country in a new continent and a new city that I didn’t even know How to pronounce its name properly! .
It was overwhelmingly nice, I got to meet new people from all around the world, had fun with all the social events that I attended in the town, and learned so much from the workshops and lectures presented by leading professers in biomedical science providing us with their latest researches and knowledge.
Furthermore more I stayed in students house which added to the pleasant experience.
I hope all of this shall pass and I have the chance to return their and be part of ISCOMS again.

Ukraine

Hello I am Liza Korniiko. I participated in ISCOMS twice: in 2017, while was studying on my 5th year in Bogomolets medical university, and in 2019, as a graduate master. Being there each time brought me something new and always something, breaking my own borders. I visited and still do many scientific events, but untill now sure that ISCOMS is one of the best I’ve ever participated students’ congress. It is extremely well-organized, thanks to organising committee (motivated students!), and the main thing – fulfilled of diverse numerous amount of the latest and the most interesting information from bio-medical world. And of course ability to meet new people from all over the globe. Btw, do not afraid to apply on IRF, as I did it first time! This is amazing opportunity to make your small project, be involved in a real scientific world and, at the same time, have an adorable social program. On IRF I met many awewsome people with the same interests, and even made a strong, county-boards breaking friendship with some of them. Because the main lesson I got from visiting Groningen: it doesn’t matter where are you from – the main thing is w h o you are. Warmest hugs, good luck and only best wishes for everyone, who ended reading this text till the end:)
