Travel Grants

Planning to attend ISCOMS 2025? We understand that travelling to Groningen can be a significant expense, especially for students. To support you, we have compiled a guide on finding travel grants to help make your journey more affordable.

To assist you in finding a funding source, there are institutions that can help you find a grant. Try this page, by Nuffic: https://www.studyinnl.org/finances. It contains an overview of available grants that you may qualify for, and other helpful information. In addition, you can look at the grantfinder by the University of Groningen: https://www.rug.nl/education/scholarships/findscholarships.

Many universities provide travel grants to help students attend academic events. Ask your academic advisor for recommendations on finding suitable grants. Also be sure to check with your department, student associations, or the international office, as they often oversee funds specifically for student travel.

Many countries provide government-sponsored grants to support students travelling abroad for academic purposes. Check with national education and research bodies or cultural exchange programs for opportunities.

Certain foundations exist to support students from underrepresented backgrounds or regions in attending a congress. Look into academic foundations and charities that align with your field or goals.

If none of the options above work out, we offer the ISCOMS Travel Grant. Please note that funding is very limited, so the likelihood of receiving this grant is very low. See below for more information.

Travel Grants

Applications for the 2025 ISCOMS Travel Grants will open on the 28th of February and will close on the 14th of March. Each application will be reviewed by our International Contacts committee. The number of grants awarded and the amount of each grant will depend on the volume of requests. Applicants will be notified via email shortly after the selection process is completed.

Application requirements:
● Submit a brief letter (up to 350 words) explaining why you believe you deserve a travel grant.
● Provide an official letter from your supervisor, confirming your need for financial support. The letter must include the university’s official stamp.

Since the maximum amount that can be awarded is 700 euros, we strongly encourage students to explore additional funding opportunities. Many universities offer grants for students attending academic conferences. Be sure to inquire with your institution about these options.

If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us through iscoms@umcg.nl.

We look forward to welcoming you at ISCOMS 2025!
