The Netherlands
The Netherlands, also known as Holland, is a small but densely populated country: nearly 18 million people live within just 41,000 km²! Its identity is deeply intertwined with water management, and without its ingenious systems of dykes and flood defenses, much of the country would not exist.
The Netherlands has much to offer, from stunning natural landscapes to a rich cultural heritage. Each region boasts its own unique character, from the wooded Veluwe, to the rolling hills of Maastricht, to the charming Wadden Islands. Besides its nature, the Netherlands is a perfect destination for city trips. Of course, Amsterdam, the world-famous capital, is a must-visit, but the Netherlands offers much more. Explore Utrecht and Groningen, known for their rich cultural architecture and picturesque canals, or experience Rotterdam’s modern skyline and vibrant urban vibe.
The Netherlands has a rich history, but throughout the years the Dutch have grown to become an incredibly modern and international community. However, words can only go so far, experiencing Dutch culture firsthand and meeting the Dutch people is the best way to truly understand it. This is just one more reason to attend ISCOMS!
